Overview

The "International Education Connect: Study Abroad Fair" was successfully organised to bridge the gap between global academic aspirations and tangible opportunities. By partnering with IDP, a global leader in international education services, the university brought world-class institutional expertise directly to the students, fostering an atmosphere of global mobility and academic excellence.

Inaugural Session

The event commenced at 10:45 AM with the inauguration of the Study Abroad Showcase fair by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar, and Dean, Research.

While interacting with the university representatives, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor emphasised the university's commitment to ‘Internationalisation at Home’, noting that such fairs empower students to become global citizens. Also, the esteemed Registrar highlighted the administrative support provided to students for global transitions, stressing that the university aims to simplify the complex journey of international admissions through these strategic collaborations.

Participating Institutions

The fair saw the active participation of 12 prestigious international universities, providing students with a wide spectrum of geographical and academic choices. Notable participants included:

USA: Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech), Northeastern University.

UK: University of Southampton.

New Zealand: University of Canterbury.

Others: Including Georgia State University, Northeastern University, and other leading institutions from diverse regions.

Key Features and Student Engagement

The Foyer Area of the New Academic Block was transformed into a bustling hub of information where students received personalised counselling on:

  • Admissions & Eligibility: Direct interaction with university representatives regarding GPA requirements, standardised tests (GRE/GMAT/IELTS), and application deadlines.
  • Scholarships: Detailed insights into merit-based and need-based financial aid available specifically for Indian students.
  • Career Pathways: Information on post-study work permits and global employability trends in fields like STEM, Design, and Management.
  • On-the-Spot Assessment: Several universities offered preliminary profile evaluations, giving students immediate feedback on their candidacy.
Impact and Significance

The fair served as a major step toward institutional internationalisation. By hosting these universities on campus, the event provided:

  • Direct Networking: The "one-on-one" format demystified the study abroad process, replacing online brochures with real-time conversations.
  • Global Exposure: It broadened the horizons of the student body, encouraging them to align their current academic projects with international standards.
