An MoU signing ceremony was organized on 14 May 2026 between SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat and Norwaves Systems AS. The initiative, undertaken by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University, aimed to establish academic and research collaboration in the emerging domains of 5G and 6G communication technologies.
The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening international cooperation for advanced research, innovation, and technology development in next-generation wireless communication systems.
The ceremony was attended by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and distinguished representatives from both organizations. The presence of all Deans and HoDs reflected the university’s collective commitment towards promoting interdisciplinary research and global collaborations in advanced communication technologies.
The program commenced with the welcome address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Paramjit Singh Jaswal. In his address, he highlighted the growing importance of 5G and 6G technologies in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. He emphasized that next-generation communication systems are transforming sectors such as healthcare, education, transportation, manufacturing, defence, and smart cities. He further stated that universities must actively collaborate with global industries and research organizations to contribute towards innovation and technological advancement in wireless communication systems. Subsequently, Prof. V. Samuel Raj, Registrar, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaboration in advancing research and innovation. He noted that the MoU would create opportunities for joint research projects, internships, faculty exchange programs, technical workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives in the domains of 5G and 6G technologies.
Representing Norwaves Systems AS, Mr. Venu, Founder and CEO, delivered an insightful presentation on the global significance of 6G technology and the future of wireless communication networks. He discussed how 6G is expected to revolutionize communication through ultra-high-speed connectivity, intelligent networking, artificial intelligence integration, and sustainable communication infrastructure. He also highlighted the importance of international partnerships in accelerating innovation and expressed confidence that the collaboration with SRM University would lead to impactful research contributions in next-generation communication technologies.
During the ceremony, it was also announced that SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat has applied for membership in the Bharat 6G Alliance. This initiative reflects the university’s vision to actively participate in India’s national mission towards the development and deployment of 6G technologies. The proposed membership is expected to strengthen the university’s collaboration with industries, research institutions, start-ups, and policymakers working in the field of advanced telecommunications.
The MoU signing was formally completed in the presence of university officials, faculty members, and representatives from both organizations. The agreement aims to facilitate collaborative research activities, technical training programs, innovation-driven projects, student engagement initiatives, and the development of advanced communication solutions aligned with global technological trends.
The ceremony concluded with the closing remarks by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Paramjit Singh Jaswal. In his concluding address, he expressed optimism that the collaboration between SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat and Norwaves Systems AS would significantly benefit both organizations in advancing 6G research and innovation. He emphasized that the partnership would provide a strong platform for collaborative research, global exposure, and technological development, ultimately contributing towards the future of intelligent and sustainable communication systems.
The event concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from all Deans, HoDs, faculty members, and invited delegates, reinforcing the shared vision of both organizations towards excellence in 5G/6G research and innovation.
